We are delighted to say that following the Governments announcement, British Gymnastics has confirmed that Clubs may be able to open their doors again from 12th April. As a Club we want to assure you that as excited as we for our return. Our return will be very much a phased return to ensure the safety of all gymnasts, coaches and volunteers.
British Gymnantics have announced a return to coach contact framework action plan. As and when contact contact will be reintroduced will be assessed based on the framework and when it is appropriate. All parents/carers will be notified and have the option to opt in or out to the coach contact with their child. Coach contact will not yet be introduced at Totem when we return on 12th April but please know, safety is a priority at Totem. We will take care to prepare sessions where contact isn’t needed - should a child look to be struggling, exercises will be adapted accordingly.
As we make our return back to the gym it is important that our COVID safety measures we have in place at Totem are acknowledged and acted on to ensure everyone’s safety at this time.
Please can you where possible, bring your child in activewear ready to start their session. When they arrive they will be asked to use hand sanitiser and go upstairs where a coach will be waiting for them. When in class, all the equipment is thoroughly cleaned before and ready for use in the class and then after the session throughly cleaned again. During the session children will be distanced and face away from each other on equipment where possible. Hand sanitiser will be applied as children move from station to station where it is appropriate. A one way system is also in place in the building, entry into the building is at the front and we are using the fire exit at the back of the building to dismiss the children after the session. Please follow the building round to the left when you return to collect your child. If you are unsure just ask the coach where the fire exit is when you drop your child off to point you in the right direction. Unfortunately, parents are unable to stay in the building during the session as we’re not allowed to offer a waiting area. I’m super excited and really happy we are still able to run the sessions so all these measures are to prioritise everyone’s safety and to ensure we stay compliant with the rules set out by the government. Throughout the session all coaches will wear face masks / face shields and will wash hands prior, during (where needed) and after every session.
